~*~ THE NATIONAL ~*~

Andy and I were lucky enough to be able to sneak away to the ACKCSC National show in Cape Cod, MA.  A special thank you to my parents for holding down the fort while we were gone and watching the children, and thank you to Katherine for coming and helping care for the dogs.

The site for the National show was very lovely.  Since I was not showing any dogs myself, we decided to make the trip easier by leaving all the dogs home.  However, once we arrived and saw hundreds of Cavaliers everywhere, Andy and I felt a little out of place not having any with us.

I was pleased with the overall quality of dogs that were there and I was also happy with the judges final choice for Best in Show, Best of Winners, and Best of  Opposite Sex.  The Awards of Merit were given out to very deserving dogs as well.  The Winners Bitch and Best of Winners was a lovely little black and tan girl.  It was nice to see a wholecolor in the winner's circle.

Karen Galipeault expertly handled Lily for us in the Open Blenheim Bitch class.   She was in a class of 16 girls and the judge made a cut of 5 dogs and excused the rest.  Lily made the cut and remained in the ring for the final placings.  However, she did not win a ribbon.  It was nice for her to make the cut though.  Here is a photo of her in the ring.

I took about 500+ photos at the show and will be printing them in this upcoming Summer Issue of The Royal Spaniels.   If you'd like to see and read more about the show, make sure you check out that issue.  It will also have coverage of the CKCSC National which is taking place this week in South Carolina.
